Who We Are

Modern for All was co-founded in 2019 by Daniel and Jade Torres in response to a shared curiosity about how architecture and design are collected, curated, and contextualized within everyday life. What began as a personal exploration of furniture and interiors gradually evolved into a practice grounded in research, restoration, and thoughtful presentation.

Emerging from ArtCenter College of Design, Daniel refined his passion for furniture through experiences collecting and restoring pieces that embody the ideals behind modern design. Jade, whose background is in counseling with a focus on human development and psychology, approaches design as deeply connected to human behavior, interaction, and lived experience. Guided by a deep respect for the cultural context of each piece, Daniel and Jade approach every object that enters their studio as both a work of design and a complete narrative. With every item, their goal is to preserve not only the material integrity of the furniture, but also the architectural and personal histories it carries.

Foregrounding the client’s intelligence has remained a key business approach since its inception. In addition to offering a consistently rotating selection of vintage inventory, the practice has expanded into providing bespoke design services for select clients, ranging from full-service interiors to vignette stagings and private curation.

Through years of hands-on research and experience with specialty restoration techniques, Modern for All has become one of the few experts in the restoration of furniture by Charles and Ray Eames. The design studio has participated in more than thirty design markets throughout Southern California and contributed to the staging of significant mid-century residences across the region.

FAQs

Where do we get our inventory?

The people we interact with are the key to what we do. We source from a network of different communities and relationships, cultivated over the past 10 years.
Do we consign?

Yes, we do offer consignments. We have a 60/40 split.
What is your return policy?

All purchases are final. In saying that, we do offer store credit in certain cases. With every purchase, the customer needs to understand they are purchasing a vintage preserved item. Sometimes these pieces will come with special care or operation instructions to assist in your experience living with the piece. We encourage you to follow these. However, we do want you to feel confident with your purchase. If all efforts have been exhausted, we can help you by taking the piece back and providing store credit for the purchase.
Do we offer refinishing?

For previously purchased items, we can offer refinishing that best fits your piece and our resources. Depending on the damage, we will be able to help with veneer, wood finish, and upholstery repairs. Cost of repair is tailored to severity and rarity of repair parts.
How do I pay for shipping?

Expect an email from us within 48 hours of purchase. Each piece is unique, so we’ll find the best quote for you. Shipping costs include shipping materials, insurance if applicable, and UPS/USPS handling fees.
Can I update my address or name if my item is already in transit?

We will reach out to the shipper carrier (USPS/UPS/White Glove Shipper) as soon as we are alerted to the change. We can usually request the item to be held at your local post office, if an update is not possible.
How do I purchase or use my gift card?

Gift cards are available through our shop at values of $50, $100, $200, $500, etc. It’s your choice to send the gift card to your email or to the recipient’s email. In order to use the gift card, apply the unique code emailed to the recipient as part of purchase.
